Looking for an activity that will guide you through Kroměříž and offer something a little extra? Try The Search for Bishop Bruno’s Treasure – a fun adventure for both children and adults that combines discovering the town with a light dose of excitement.
Your task is to visit selected locations in and around Kroměříž, where you’ll collect stamps in a special game card. Once you’ve collected at least six stamps, you can stop by the Tourist Information Centre to claim a small but meaningful reward – a commemorative coin based on historic originals minted in Kroměříž in the 17th century.
How it works:
Participants pick up a game card at the Tourist Information Centre in Kroměříž, which includes instructions and space for collecting stamps. You’ll also receive your first stamp here – one of ten locations in and around town. Other locations include the Archbishop’s Palace ticket office, the entrance to the Flower Garden, the Kroměříž Regional Museum, and the mirror maze on the Main Square. You can also collect stamps at Amadeus confectionery, Yesterka chocolate shop, Kroměříž Coffee Roastery, the Museum of Film Legends in Kotojedy, or the windmill in Velké Těšany.
You don’t need to visit all the sites – six stamps from different locations are enough. Once you have them, return to the information centre, where each successful “treasure hunter” will receive a commemorative coin – a replica of an actual coin minted in Kroměříž in 1694. As a bonus, you can also take a photo with Bishop Bruno, who will greet you at the finish.
The game is inspired by Bishop Bruno of Schauenburg, considered the founder of Kroměříž. Although coin minting in the town was established later by Cardinal Franz of Dietrichstein in the early 17th century, Kroměříž’s mint reached its greatest fame during the reign of Bishop Karl II of Liechtenstein-Castelcorn.
