The very name of the street suggests that water was an element historically inseparable from this location. The street led to the river’s oxbow lakes and mill races, which once supplied the adjoining gardens and craft workshops. To this day, the street leads to the only bridge over the Morava River.
Water Gate

It was the second most important town gate, where the road from Holešov and Hulín ended, roughly following the route of an old trade path. Beneath the town, at the site of a former ford, it crossed the Morava River. The gate certainly had medieval origins, Gothic with later Renaissance additions. On a late 16th-century veduta, the Water Gate is depicted as a low prismatic tower with a wooden defensive storey beneath a distinctive hipped roof. It was connected to massive stone fortifications with a defensive walkway. Interestingly, historic depictions show no moat in front of the Water Gate, which was probably replaced by the nearby course of the Morava River.
