COSTUMED TOURS REVEAL THE SECRETS OF (NOT ONLY) OLD KROMĚŘÍŽ
What would it be like to meet our ancestors and talk to them about their lives and times?
This is exactly the experience offered by the guided tour Secrets of (Not Only) Old Kroměříž, a long-time favourite among the town’s tourist attractions. Every summer, real historical figures come to life thanks to the members of the Bishop’s Men of Kroměříž association. “You might meet officers of the bishop’s guard, famous locals, or townspeople who lived through important events – both historic and fairly recent,” says the association’s chairman, Evžen Petřík.
Don’t expect a dry recital of memorised facts. The Bishop’s Men are passionate about history, deeply familiar with every era of Kroměříž’s past. Their historical costumes are not cheap imitations but faithful replicas of actual uniforms, gowns, and suits.
Take a walk back in time through the streets of Kroměříž’s historic centre – this year with a special theme commemorating the 140th anniversary of the meeting between Emperor Franz Joseph I and Russian Tsar Alexander III, which took place in Kroměříž in August 1885.
