On the edge of Kroměříž, along Bílanská Street, you’ll find the Medek Ponds educational trail. This short, easy route—approximately half a kilometre long—introduces visitors to the local nature and history of the area. There are six stops along the trail, each with an information panel and interactive elements that will engage adults and delight children. Thanks to the flat terrain, the trail is suitable for families with strollers as well as for seniors.
The first stop presents the history of the site and gives an overview of the trail. The next panel tests visitors’ knowledge through riddles that challenge them to identify bird species using clues. The following two stops focus on trees—teaching how to distinguish deciduous from coniferous species and even how to recognise wood types by sound. The final section of the trail is dedicated to the role of water in the landscape. Here, visitors will find an illustrated panel and a wooden water flow model where they can explore how water moves in nature.
