BRDO LOOKOUT TOWER
The Brdo lookout tower, that stands on the highest peak Brdo (587 m. s. l.) of the Chřiby hills, is 23.90 metres high. It is the highest stone lookout tower in Moravia. It replaced the original wooden lookout tower that served until the 1970s. The stone used for its construction comes from the immediate surroundings. The construction of the lookout tower was initiated by an association of municipalities in the vicinity. The name of the peak originates in the word “brd” which means “a high-elevation forest area”. From the lookout tower you can see Beskid Mountains, Vsetín Mountains, Carpathian Mountains, Jeseník mountain range, Roháče (part of the Western Tatras) and Malá Fatra mountain range.
